So I GUESS I'll do a Twilight post...just so I feel like I fit in with the rest of the literate world:-)
Kari convinced me it was a great idea to read this book about vampires, selling it as an EASY ROMANCE. I didn't really think I'd get beyond page 3 but I LOVE IT! I'm on 157 of the 498 pg book...and I can't get enough.

Every day for the past week, I've have to stand on the bus because it's always overcrowed..and every day I'd get more annoyed. That was before. Now I get downright crabby & sad...cuz I don't get to go into the time warp of this book. I seriously look down and am an hour later with this thing. Ugh. I like telling people I hate to read...but I don't! Just this once.

UPDATE: LOVED it! Just finished today. Next up: New Moon! :-)

I've become fairly involved in the Women For Obama campaign and tonight all the ladies are coming to our house for a "Town Hall Meeting" webinar with Susan Rice (Foreign Policy Advisor).
Last night I missed the phone bank gathering, but they had a webinar with Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden!

If you're interested in attending tonite you're invited! Please let me know ;-)

On this September 11th, I can't contain my love for Obama any longer. This is one of the quotes on his website and I felt the need to share it with you. I get so sad thinking of the families (mostly kids) growing up without their loved ones..and not just from the September 11th strikes. I think about those who have died fighting for our country at home or abroad.

I hope everyone reading this is planning on voting in November. It's such a critical time and the two candidates are truly going to take our country down two completely opposite paths. Pick your favorite (or as many of you put it, the lesser of the two evils) and VOTE.

Since Kari herself posted it, I have to say YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY, she's having a girl! So VERY excited! She doesn't know it yet but she just won the lottery of hand-me-down girl stuff!! :-)

The past couple weekends have been crazy fun and busy. Two weeks ago we celebrated my mom's 55th birthday at the State Fair! Yup, she's officially a senior but we didn't find any fun senior discounts for her. Just a fun slide ride and a brief encounter with morning news anchor, Alix Kendall.

Then last weekend we drove to Chicago to visit Jason's brother and sister-in-law, Josh & Leslie, and to visit the homeland of my hero, Barack Obama;-)Our niece, Amanda, and her boyfriend, Casey, came down from Wisconsin as well! We had an awesome time and got to visit the Lincoln Park Zoo and Navy Pier!

Below are photos from both:

The past week has been VERY eventful...so a list is in order:

1. First and foremost, Michael Phelps won six gold medals for the US! Go Red, White, & Blue!!

2. I got a job! Found out yesterday I will be working back at Target, downtown, starting Monday! WOOHOOO!!

3. Andy (my brother) left for Salem, Oregon yesterday where he will be starting law school at Willamette in September.

4. Jason and I have succummed (is that proper grammar? good thing my new job isn't proofreader, eh Kari?? LOL) by the convenience and functional value (and lack of COOL factor) that a mini van has to offer...and we bought a Grand Caravan on Tuesday in exchange for our Durango. I am officially a MOM! (Like I wasn't official until now!)

5. Maya slept for the first time in her TODDLER BED last night (ok, four hours)! The crib is no longer and we are anxious to see how this works out! She hasn't been sleeping the past 2 weeks since we were both sick...so we figured if we weren't sleeping anyway...

The last few weeks have been very trying for our family as I have been having some fallbacks at work. I have struggled the past two contracts with very difficult (and in my opinion, impossible) bosses. Therefore, last Thursday when I got in to work and was immediately told I was being laid off due to financial difficulties, I was guiltily relieved that I wouldn't have to deal with this woman anymore. However, in my next breath I must say I am very anxious about the job market right now as there are very few positions opening up...in fact it's mostly laying off activity in most corporate settings. So...here we are!
I have a couple interviews set up so far and J and I are just trying to stay positive.
I have been having the most wonderful week, however! WHY? Because I'm spending it with my sweet baby girl! Every day she gets to be so much more fun...and just when I think it couldn't get any better, she says "LOVE YOU" this morning to Jason as he leaves for work! Be still my heart!:-)
Anyway, your prayers and job leads are VERY appreciated right now! I know everyone is struggling financially in this economy and we're not alone...so to everyone else in the same panicky situation, I hypocritically say "BREATHE! It'll all be ok!" :-)

So J and I are officially childless for a whole week! Maya is at my parents' house until Saturday! I feel super free and horribly sad all at the same time. What a weird combo of emotion! Hopefully the week will be so much fun that I will be able to keep my mind off of Baby's excursions without mommy...and even fit in a happy hour or two before the end:-)Cheers to mommy vacation!
