This website keeps me sane when I hear about women giving birth at the point I'm at (22 weeks). Maybe internet forums aren't the best place for me to be hanging out right now;-)
Baby Truman was born at 23 weeks gestation and is holding his own!!!

Tiger's favorite new place to lay is with his head on my belly. I like to think he's communicating with Baby Girl...they're already friends.

It's a very strange feeling to be back in Minnesota on this, the 5th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. I remember sitting in my apartment in St. Cloud on the day it happened, thinking of how surreal it all seemed. About 8 months later I found myself living right in the hub of the action, hearing the real-life stories of the victims and their families. The stories that stick in my head are of people coming back home from NYC on the trains or by cabs that night after the attacks and seeing all of the cars that were left that and the following days at the train stations..people who never came home. New Jersey was just as affected as those right in New York City. The pictures here are posted on maplewoodonline.com which is the town website of where I lived as a nanny and then a teacher. Nothing is as good as being there, but this is my tribute to this day of remembrance.
For those of you who have been ground zero in New York since, have family, friends or acquaintances who were affected by the attacks, or who have family members serving our country in combat, I share in your sadness and pray for you today.

To make this fair, once we know the gender of the baby (on TUESDAY), only the people who have placed wages on PregPool (http://www.pregpool.com/online/thegrodebaby/) will be able to know what it is. Otherwise it's CHEATING;-) It's only $10 and you could be RICH once it's born! Both Steve and Chuck have placed their bets...now go for it!!

Drum roll starts Tuesday morning for us as our ultrasound is first thing that morning! Can't wait to find out if Baby Girl Jacob will be having a Baby Boy Grode or Baby Girl Grode to grow up with:-)

The first day of school is always sad for me in the years I don't have a teaching job. The smells of diesel buses on the way to work, the new clothes and school supplies, and the excitement in the air of parents and students all hoping they get through without any big problems. Once the second week begins I'm usually over it, knowing how stressed out the teachers are and how my job has already been establised..no surprises. One of these years I'll go back and it'll be great. I think.
