I don't know when or how but somewhere along the line I decided on "BabyCakes" as a great nickname for Maya. I don't think I've even uttered that phrase before in my life. I'm not even sure I like it. It just comes out! Anyway, someone had this onesie on their blog and it made me think "I'M SOOO CLICHE!!" Oh well. Love is cliche I guess;-)

In the matter of sleep:
UPDATE: Thank you to all of you who voted and gave input on schedules and sleep training. I feel safe in saying we are almost there! After several days and nights of crying it out (both baby and mom), I started keeping track of Maya's schedule on Trixie Tracker (best baby website ever...2 week free trial!) and we now have her sleeping an average of 10 hours a night and pretty regular naps! We did a combo of crying and comforting, however, it came down to putting her in her crib before she hit the overtired stage. It's just nice to see the progress through the days rather than listening to my negativity and thinking she'll never have a schedule, EVER. To those of you with younger babies, I highly recommend you NOT put pressure on yourself to form a schedule until your baby is...well, until they're ready! It's not worth the pain and they WILL get it. No matter what or when. There. I've said my piece. Now I am going to go clean while my baby continues to NAP! WEEEEEEEEEEEEE! If anyone ever wants to chat about this subject I'd LOVE to discuss! I became way overly obsessed with this topic but it makes for fun conversations with other mommies! **Thank you to Kari for recommending Trixie Tracker. My hero.**

Birthday and 1st Mom's Day..all at once! Sunday was such a fun day! I got a gourmet breakfast (made with love by Jason), my whole family was here including my mommy(even my brother Matt decided to surprise us and show up from California), got clothes, 2 dozen roses, a massage, manicure, and lots of other goodies, and had dinner with everyone at Dave & Busters. Thank you to everyone who sent cards and called! It was definitely a memorable day...

Advice Needed
Very rarely do I actually ASK advice from mothers as it seems it is just GIVEN automatically...wanted or not. However, I'm having a huge dilemma with sleep scheduling for Maya and just want to know how you moms out there approached this issue. I'm not making ANY promises as to what I'll end up doing but I just want opinions. Did you do the "cry it out" approach? Maybe rocking to sleep? How many naps did your babies take at 5 months? When did you institute a plan? What worked? What didn't? Comments wanted. Thanks!

1 1/2 Months Retrospective: Maya's Baptism!
Speaking of baptisms...I'm the worst mom ever. I never posted pictures of Maya's! I think at that point in time I was so overwhelmed with everything I didn't even think twice about pictures. NOW, I have a sweet baby who likes to sleep during the night and has an actual SCHEDULE!:-) Therefore, I am now able to post pics! It was a very special day!
