Bathing Beauty

I had just gotten back from a walk with Maya strapped to me. As we waited for the apartment elevator, she started screaming while this guy with way too much tennis equipment yells for me to hold the door for him. Ok, so being the nice girl I am I hold it. A million years later (ok, maybe 2 minutes in real time) this guy finally gets his stuff on the elevator with the screaming baby. The door closes. He looks over and Maya and says "Hey. Nice baby." How do you respond to that? "Well, thank you!" (insert akward pause) Then he says "Did you just get her?" WHAT??? Did I just GET her? So as straightfaced as I could I say "Yah, just picked her up 6 months ago."

THEN...

Yesterday, I went to pick Maya up from daycare and this little 4 year old girl says "Are you Maya's mommy?" "Yes! I am her mommy!" She sits there for a little bit and says "Did you give bird to her?" BIRTH! "Yes!!! I did give bird to her!" I actually thanked her for giving me credit for it.

The little four year old girl knew but the 30 year old elevator jock didn't. Girls are SO much more mature.

Little Miss Maya started daycare part time this week! We made the decision that either I needed to get another job out of the home (in which we'd need childcare) or for me to continue doing work from home but while she was away. It seemed like the perfect solution to have me working from home, and no daycare. However, I didn't realize how high maintanence babies really are!! lol.
Anyway, it went wonderfully. We found a sweet girl about 10 minutes away and she has a 3 month old baby girl herself. BFF's;-)

I broke down and created a MySpace webpage a while ago. Rarely do I actually go on the site, but tonight I did...and much to my dismay there is a TEN YEAR reunion being planned by my high school graduating class for this coming August! Yikes! I can't even believe it's been 10 years! Starvation diet...here I come!;-)
So many things have changed since then, yet, when I think about those halls and lockers and teachers, I can be right back there in a second.
Time is such a strange thing.
